The real meaning of success...
When we hear success, we visualize moments when we got good grades, landed up a job, got a promotion, etc. This definition of success is temporary because it can convert into failure at any moment.
Let’s start with the definition of success that most of us believe in. When we hear success, we visualize moments when we got good grades, landed up a job, got a promotion, etc. We never visualize moments when we failed. That’s how we have been bought up.
This definition of success is temporary because it can convert into failure at any moment. For example, you get good grades today, you are successful. You get bad grades tomorrow, you are a failure.
By looking at success this way, you are unknowingly competing in a race that is inviting mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. You will have a few happy days, and a lot of sad ones, because your mood now depends only on the final output.
The real definition of success is learning. Whether you fail or succeed in a particular task, there will always be some learning to take away. For example, instead of focusing on bad grades, you should focus on why you got them in the first place.
Change your perspective from looking at the output, that is success or failure, to look at the journey of learning. Focus on how you have evolved into a better being, through the entire journey by gaining knowledge, better personality, etc.
This will help you realize that failure is nothing more than a perspective to look at a situation and you have the ability to create a new perspective that focuses on the positive side of things.
When you look at success this way, you improve your mental health, failures do not exist for you, you feel happy & satisfied more often, and feel more empowered.
Think about it, maybe?
